James Lewis

Chief Executive Officer
Founding Partner

James Lewis is a mission-driven entrepreneur and CEO focused on driving innovation that improves the human experience. He is a global leader in corporate growth, innovation, partnerships, and venture investments and is known for being able to ‘connect the dots’ and bring ‘structure to uncertainty’ across several complex industries, companies, and government organizations.

Prior to founding 11|TEN, James ran an innovation and venture program for a multi-billion-dollar, diversified family office and worked in Washington DC for a leading healthcare and public sector strategy consulting firm. In these roles, he executed over $1B in investments, acquisitions, and divestitures and developed multiple innovation hubs bringing together corporate partners, government organizations, and startups to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. James was able to see first-hand the way corporates work across the industry value-chain and developed 11|TEN as a more user-friendly and efficient way to invest in growth.

James holds an MBA in Strategy & Finance from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a BS in Business Administration from The Citadel.

Steve Gertz

Chief Development Officer
Founding Partner

Steve Gertz is known nationally as a business development authority with 25+ years of experience. Steve's life and business mantra has always been "1+1=10!" Or in other words, empowering people, businesses, and industries to create more and do more by matching the right partners together in the most ideal ecosystem that drives value creation. This mission led him to co-found 11|TEN Innovation Partners. At 11|TEN, he focuses on developing strategic partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and high potential startups in healthcare, technology, food, and agriculture to build out rich ecosystems that can accelerate innovation and grow businesses.

Prior to 11|TEN, Steve served as Partner and Chief Strategy Officer for an accelerating growth platform backed by Joe Gibbs, the former NFL three-time Super Bowl Champion Coach and current owner of a NASCAR Cup Series Championship race team. At Joe Gibbs Driven (JGD Investors), Steve built and managed a very successful investment and business development portfolio.

Kevin O'Connor

President
Founding Partner

Kevin is a pioneer is the Human-Centered Design space having operated a full-service user-centered design lab for the past 20 years. He leads 11|TEN’s Design and Product Development practice and operates 11|TEN’s Innovation Lab which serves as the world’s first 5G Human-Centered Design Lab through a partnership with Verizon.

Kevin has been consulting with Fortune 500 and Global 2000 organizations for the past 20 years. He founded User Insight in 2002 - a Ui/UX Research, Strategy, and Design Firm which he built into a national organization with over 350 customers. He regularly consults with organizations on creating a user centric organization across multiple channels and technology platforms.

Kevin’s experience includes companies such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Sharecare, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Equifax, Uber, SunTrust Bank, and CDC. He began working with government agencies in 2004 and has over 150 projects in the government and health sector including work with Emory, Stryker, Merck, CHOA, American Cancer Society, CDC, NIH and AHRQ. Kevin is well versed in business strategy, product development, user experience, multi-disciplinary and cross functional teams and brings a unique perspective having worked with companies across 12 different industries.
